My husband is Deaf so we had to follow the park interpreter schedule and this was a day they had interpreters for MK. We headed to Adventureland first since we pretty much missed it the first day. Oh man...just realized we forgot to go back through Swiss Family Treehouse. I made a title for that in a swap and even rented the movie so kids who know about it. Oh well... Disneyland has Tarzan's treehouse not Swiss Family. First stop in Adventureland was on the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. This is another ride Disneyland doesn't have. We did it twice in a row -- no line.
Next we went to get in line for Pirates for Don ran off for Fast Passes to Big Thunder Mountain. Not much of a line at all. While in line for Pirates, H found this hidden Mickey:
Again, this is a ride that Disneyland surpasses MK on. They missed the whole ride through the bayou that gets you geared up for the ride as it slowly changes. At MK it is just suddenly there in your face. Also missed the cool dips that get the front row wet that DL has. I think DL is longer also. Way better at DL. Same hidden Captain Jack's around on the ride. Inside it looks almost identical but there is a lot missing at MK.
After we came out, we saw Capt Hook -- just right across from the Pirates ride. Got in line for him and Smee (never saw Smee before!). The "character handler" for them was very fun...totally into it. He booed at Peter Pan as he walked by and everything. Super fun. N is not in the photo because he decided to do Pirates again with Don.
As we were finishing this line, Captain Jack pops out of a door just mere feet away from me and goes dashing off to the little pirate show that was taking place across from Capt Hook.
After Captain Jack dashed away again (breaking my heart...sigh), we went to see Peter Pan. He is around the corner from the shop right next to the Pirates ride. He was totally in character. Maybe a little too perky. He even told the teenage girls in front of us how gross girls are.
Next was our first interpreted show -- storytime with Belle. We had to zoom over to the castle. The Dream Along with Mickey show was on (it is always going on) so we had to go around. When we got there and asked about seating near the interpreter we were told we should have arrived 15 minutes early. I think we got there about 12 minutes early. So, I was irked. Then we waited and waited and waited... Finally Belle comes out with some lame story about Gaston stealing her book and the Beast has gone off to chase him to get it back but she would like to do meet and greets instead. Um...hello? This is the only interpreted show on the schedule... Whatever. H got her photo.
Kids and I sat down so they could have a snack while Don ran off to get Space Mountain fast passes. He rode it later that day and said it was very rough. It is supposed to be closed soon for refurbishing. Keep that in mind if you are going soon. You might want to skip it. Sounds like it is more painful than fun. While we were waiting the Stepmother and Stepsisters came out in Belle's storytime area. Yep...back in line. LOVE the stepsisters. They have the best character job in the whole park.
Then off to use up some fast passes for Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain. H does not like fast rides and was very upset that her brother was finally tall enough to go on several of them -- he loves fast rides and roller coasters. Being the nurturing mom that I am, I forced her on them. Ha! I did let her skip Splash Mountain because she had just gone on Big Thunder and looked like she might ask for new parents soon if I forced another on her right away. Don and N loved Splash Mountain. N is the little blue hooded poncho in this photo.
We headed off to have some lunch next. We went to the Columbia Harbour House across from Haunted Mansion. Pretty good food. We missed the 2pm interpreted ride on the Jungle Cruise. Bummer. That would have been great. Kids were eating though so... H and I went to Mickey's Philharmagic and Don and N went to do the Buzz ride and the horrible Rocket ride in tomorrowland. I hate the Rockets. Always feel like I'm going to fly right out of them. We met up for the Celebrate parade (I may have the name wrong) -- it is new in the last few weeks. Very colorful! Had interpreters for that so we got great up close views (great photos for me).
Then Don went to ride Space Mountain with his fast passes. I took the kids to the Tiki room. Very cool. Never did get my dole whip, dang it! Saw Rafiki at the bridge as we were leaving.
We went to the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor after that -- also interpreted. Not bad. Don and N grabbed a few more rides. H wanted to try to see more fairies. Still an eternal line. She cried "Uncle" and we left to meet Don and N to get on the monorail to head back to the Grand Floridian for dinner at 1900 Park Fare. Here's where my big trauma happened! We had a bunch of 4x6 papers in a plastic case for autographs. We probably had 15-20 already -- including the fairy ones my feet were still aching over standing in line for. As we got on the monorail, Don folded up the stroller and they fell out of the top of the cupholder and slid between the platform and monorail out of sight! I almost had to divorce Don on the spot. He went back to the stop and got it reported and they said they would get it retrieved and returned to us the next morning. I was so upset over the whole thing. Really...very very upset. My fellow scrapbookers would understand, I'm sure. We finally got it two days later...PHEW!!!...but I had already bought a Disney cheap autograph book in the meantime. It all worked out. Make sure you don't have anything out that could slip as you get on the monorail. Murphy's law.
Dinner at 1900 Park Fare is with Cinderella and her crew. First up, Prince Charming.
Then we saw Cindy...
Last few pics from Day 2 at our dinner:
Drizella was convinced that N adored her and tried to give him a big smooch. He would have nothing to do with it. Still has eyes only for him mama.
